The MAA is the world's largest community of mathematicians, students, and enthusiasts. The Washington, DC based non-profit was founded in 1915 and strive to further the understanding of our world through mathematics— because mathematics drives society and shapes our lives. In 2022, the MAA had a big programmatic year. I worked with MAA Marketing Director Kristin Morris, freelance web developer Sean Taylor, and content strategist Luke Hodges, to encapsulate the year with an interactive annual report, built on Webflow as a microsite.
I had the unique opportunity to push the boundaries of their MAA's brand identity for the digital annual report. Drawing inspiration from Euclidean geometry, I developed an icon system referencing Euclidian shapes, weaving them throughout the structures of the microsite. A map-like grid pattern was introduced to symbolize the mapping of numbers and mathematics while representing the universal connections math fosters across diverse communities. To maintain alignment with the parent brand, I utilized MAA’s existing type system, ensuring a resemblance to their current visual identity. Web development by Sean Taylor of Build Design Company.
